Ted provides industry-leading counsel to cyber insurers. He routinely advises insurers on first- and third-party cyber claims and gives strategic guidance on other media, technology, and privacy-related exposures. Ted also works with insurers on cyber policy drafting.

Ted is one of the nation’s foremost practitioners for ransomware matters. He has advised on over 1,000 ransomware matters involving organizations of all types, sizes, and industries. Ted also regularly counsels clients on claims for business interruption loss, drawing on his business background to guide insurers on matters involving complex financial and accounting-related issues.

Ted litigates coverage and bad faith actions on behalf of insurers at the trial and appellate levels. A Northern Virginia native, Ted is most at home in the Eastern District of Virginia’s “Rocket Docket” but also litigates in courts around the country. Ted also has resolved countless cases before litigation through direct negotiations and mediation.

Before private law practice, Ted worked for a large general contractor in the Washington, D.C. area. Prior to founding LRD, Ted was a partner at a large Washington, D.C.-based law firm focusing on insurance coverage.

Ted lives in Northern Virginia with his wife Amy and their daughter.
